58th National Film Awards Photos, Winners List Stills

The 58th National Film Awards presentation ceremony held on Sep 9 at New Delhi. Indian President Pratibha Patil given all award winners. Director K Balachander for Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Tamil Actor Dhanush for Best Actor Award (Aadukalam), Director Seenu Ramasamy for Best Tamil Film Award(Thenmerkku Paruvakkatru), Saranya Ponvannan for Best Actress Award (Thenmerkku Paruvakkatru). Malayalam Actor Salim Kumar receives Best Actor Award (Adaminte Makan Abu), Singer Rekha Bhardwaj for Best Playback Singer Award (female) Ishqiya (Hindi).

The awards were distributed by the President of India, Pratibha Patil in a function held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. on September 9.

Veteran Tamil filmmaker K. Balachander, was the cynosure of all eyes as he came to accept the prestigiousDadasaheb Phalke Award for his outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema.

Actor Dhanush and Salim Kumar were awarded with Best Actor award (
Rajat Kamal and Rs 50,000) for Aadukalam (Tamil) and Adaminte Makan Abu (Malayalam) respectively.

Dhanush got this award for the raw, nuanced portrayal of a cocky young man who learns lessons about life the hard way.

BEST ACTRESS:

Saranya Ponvannan for Thenmerkku Paruvakkatru (Tamil) and Mitalee Jagtap Varadkar for Baboo Band Baaja (Marathi) (Rajat Kamal and Rs 50,000)

Saranya Ponvannan was awarded for her acting as a fiercely combative single mother who shields her son to the point of sacrifice.
